A Hands-On Look at Particle Physics Experiments
Department of Physics, University of Warwick, COVENTRY CV4 7AL
Dr Gary Barker

Have you ever wondered how physicists can talk with such confidence about the nature of matter at scales well below that of an atomic nucleus i.e. EMBED Equation.3 m? Particle physics experiments are able to do this by measuring the interactions of elementary particles at high energies.

This exhibition provides the opportunity to experience first-hand real data taken at the Large Electron- Positron collider located at the CERN laboratory near Geneva. Aided by researchers from the Elementary Particle Physics Group of Warwick University, you will learn how these experiments function and how to identify the presence of specific particle interactions in the data set.
