| "I was delighted
when Dr Mo Afzal contacted me last summer, and invited King Edward
VI School to participate in his Science for the 21st Century Initiative.
This seemed a most exciting venture, and so it has proved to be. It
has given some of our sixth form scientists the opportunity to take
part in genuine scientific research, working alongside like-minded
pupils from the other schools. The work they have done has taken them
far beyond the confines of the A level science curriculum, and given
them a real taste of university study. Some of the boys have also
been involved in the national journal for science students, and others
in the planning and organisation of the exciting Showcase Science
conference. All of them will have gained a great deal from the experience,
which will stand them in good stead in their sixth form and university
careers." |
